| NCRC Press release April 7, 2005: "Site Preparation Underway for Kenyon Square in Columbia Heights Site preparation and construction have begun for the construction of Kenyon Square at 14th & Irving Street above the Columbia Heights Metro station. The 153-unit condominium development by Columbia Heights Ventures, LLC, which includes Donatelli & Klein and Gragg & Associates is another addition to the continuing transformation of the Columbia Heights neighborhood, particularly along 14th Street, NW. NCRC’s subsidiary, RLARC, in partnership with Columbia Heights Ventures, celebrated the groundbreaking for the project February 11 with Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham and Deputy Mayor Stan Jackson. NCRC executives are pleased that the project will not only generate many construction and permanent jobs but will also produce additional tax revenue for the District’s coffers. As with all NCRC and RLARC residential developments, this project incorporates affordable housing (as defined by the US Department of Housing & Urban Development) for low- and moderate-income households. At Kenyon Square, twenty percent of the units will be affordable to households earning thirty to eighty percent of the Area Median Income, and will feature over 19,000 square feet of street-level neighborhood retail, underground parking, and a rooftop garden. Construction will be completed within two years. Kenyon Square joins ten other RLARC developments that are completed or underway in Columbia Heights, which reflects a neighborhood renaissance that NCRC and RLARC are working to duplicate in other District neighborhoods — particularly in East Washington." |
