What is the purpose of this site?
This site contains information and pictures of new condo and
retail developments in Washington DC. Its current
focus is on condos in Columbia
Heights and the U Street Corridor
areas of DC. It will also track new retail developments
in Washington DC such as the Tivoli
Theater and DC-USA.
These neighborhoods are changing rapidly. This
site will document those changes and assist those
looking to buy property.
What's up with the name?
I realize that the word gentrification has a negative connotation to some people. However, I don't think anyone would argue that it is not happening to Columbia Heights and U Street. I used the definition below from www.encarta.msn.com when naming the site:
"gen·tri·fi·ca·tion noun
renovation of an unprosperous neighborhood: the process
of transforming an unprosperous neighborhood of
buildings needing repair into a more prosperous one, for
example, through investment in remodeling buildings or
houses"
This site is not a social commentary on gentrification. As of December 2004, I have never received a complaint on the site name or any content on this site.
Why can't I find information on a specific property?
I add new developments as I find out about them through the newspaper, internet, calling the developer or when people use the Contact DCGentrification form. It will probably never contain all the possible properties in the area. All information provided is believed to be accurate but is not guaranteed and should be independently verified by your real estate agent or the property developer.
What is your privacy policy?
